Dr Maud can give Medical Information on Children because...
Medical Information:
Dr Maud is Maud Meates-Dennis. She graduated from Otago University, New Zealand, with MB ChB (MD equivalent in North America).
After working in internal medicine as a registrar (resident), Maud worked for 6 months in Ethiopia during the 1985 famine. The experience she gained there is unrivalled and it fueled her desire to continue working with children.
Maud (on the left) in Ethiopia with Mother Teresa and her New Zealand team members. The visit from Mother Teresa was memorable and her knowledge of the problems encountered by children in the shelter and her subsequent advice was impressive.
Maud returned to New Zealand to start a career in Paediatrics. She started her post-graduate paediatric training in New Zealand and then completed it in London (at the Royal London and Royal Free Hospitals and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children). Her post-graduate qualifications include FRCPCH (Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health) and FRACP (Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians).
Maud has worked as a paediatric consultant in hospitals in London and New Zealand. She is a general paediatrician and has a wide range of experience in both inpatient and outpatient paediatrics and community child health. Maud has a special interest in ambulatory services and has worked with children with HIV, diabetes and rheumatological conditions.
Maud is a keen teacher and regularly teaches medical students, nurses and junior doctors during their paediatric training. She also teaches multi-disciplinary groups how to practice Evidence-based Child Health (most recently on courses held at the Centre for Evidence-based Child Health at the Institute of Child Health, London).
Family Information:
Maud is from a large family and has family living in the United States, England, Australia, and New Zealand. Maud mentioned that her sisters ask for medical information, but her brothers, sisters-in-law and cousins also ask. That's a lot of medical information being given. By the way, the photos on the site are of Maud's nieces, nephews, cousins and her stepsons (when they were younger).
Maud is married and has 2 stepsons. Sadly, Joshua (on the right) is no longer with us.
This site is dedicated to the loving memory of Joshua Dennis, (9 October 1981 - 16 December 2005)
